The 108th Grand American was
played out for the second straight year at the World Shooting and
Recreational Complex at Sparta, Illinois. Shooters were hindered
with 100+ degree weather for days on end. This very well could have been
the hottest Grand American ever. Harlan
Campbell Jr (left), captain of the 2007, 2006, 2005 and
2004 All American Teams, won the Preliminary HOA, the White
Flyer 2400 HOA and the Grand American week HOA, winning 11 trophies
during the two week classic. He took home six last year and nine the
year before that. Leo Harrison III, a Trapshooting
Hall of Famer, also won 11 awards, including breaking 100 straight in
doubles three times while winning three doubles races during Preliminary
Week. Leo also finished fourth in the Grand American Handicap.
Kay
Ohye won 16 trophies, 14 of them Vet awards. Kay finished seventh in
the Grand American Handicap, an event he won last year. Hall of Famer Debbie
Ohye Neilson won 11 ladies awards, including the ladies GAH
title. Jennifer Wilburn took home 9 trophies including the ladies
HOA. James
Foster, the five time captain of the Wheelchair All American Team,
won 13 chair titles.
Eric Munson of
Cokato, MN won his third Grand American Doubles title, also winning in
2002 and 2004. Leo Harrison III, Joe Hiestand and Mercer Tennille
hold the record with 4 Doubles titles each. Eric also claimed his
first HAA title with 395x400. Nick Galata of Valley City,
Ohio broke the only 100 straight to claim the biggest prize of all, the
Grand American Handicap title. Richard Shrode of Bend, Oregon won
the Clay Target title with 200x200.
